WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

Sabrosa Tacos was founded by Hamim Ahmed and Nadira Miah. With both having family experience in the restaurant scene, they decided it was time they tried something new and bold.

After 9 months of planning and testing, we officially launched In January 2022 from our humble home kitchen. To say it was popular is an under-statement. We sold out within the first hour of opening! Since then, we’ve taken massive strides.

From operating in a dark kitchen serving delivery only to then opening our first restaurant in November 2023. We’ve shown exponential growth in the first 2 years of operating. Now we’re ready to share our temptingly tasty tacos with the world.

Tacos are one thing, but Birria style tacos are on a whole different level. They’re made with a labour of love and packed full of rich flavour.

Food trends come and go, but there is no denying the global shift towards finding an authentic Mexican experience. Sabrosa Tacos will be an ever-growing brand name that will be known for not just being any old Taco Shop, but recognised as THE number one Taco Shop.

When you think of Mexican street food, what’s the first thing that pops into your mind? Tacos right? Our Tacos are made with the freshest and finest ingredients to give you a taste of the streets of Mexico. Sabrosa literally means ‘Tasty’!

We are the only restaurant in the UK to serve Halal Birria Tacos in 4 different styles!

BIRRIA 101

WHAT IS BIRRIA?

Birria is a traditional slow cooked stew. It’s usually made with goat meat but nowadays, beef is more commonly used. It originated from Jalisco, Mexico. More specifically the town of Cocula, located southwest of Guadalajara. Spanish Conquistadors brought their homeland’s culture and traditions when they entered Mexico. They also introduced goats. Due to food shortages at the time, locals began using the goats and whatever other ingredients they could find; thus leading to the invention of Birria.

HOW IT’S MADE

We use the very best Prime Aged Black Angus Beef; Specifically the Chuck and Brisket. We start by marinating the beef in a combination of Guajillo, Ancho, and Chipotle chilli peppers. We also use 6 other spices & ingredients including Mexican Oregano. The beef is then slow cooked for up to 8 hours. Marinating and slow cooking allows the flavours to really penetrate the beef, which results in a tender and delicious final product.

THREE CHILLIES

A common misconception is that if a dish has chillies in it, it should be spicy. With over 150 different types of chillies used all over Mexico, the chillies we use are not for spiciness but purely for flavour.

Guajillo Chillies are dried Mirasol Chillies.
They are large and thin chillies that have bright red skin and a mild kick, with some natural sweetness and a touch of earthy flavour.

Ancho Chillies are dried Poblano Chillies.
They vary in spiciness, but they are generally mild to medium and have a light smoky flavour with a subtle hint of chocolatiness.

Chipotle Chillies are dried Red Jalapenos. These peppers are sweet and smoky but also have a medium to high heat. Dried chillies are soaked in Adobo sauce.

WAYS TO EAT

Although Birria is traditionally eaten as a stew, the best way to eat Birria, is in a Taco.
The tortilla is dipped in the Beef Oil and then fried. Whilst it’s frying, we add the shredded beef, fold the tortilla and then fry until crisp on both sides. It’s then topped off with red onions & coriander.

Our Quesa Tacos are just like the Dorado Tacos but with melted cheese inside. Before adding the shredded beef, we layer some cheese on the frying tortilla to allow it to melt.

You can still enjoy Birria as a stew by getting a pot of our Consomme. Although delicious on it’s own, we encourage you to dip the Birria Tacos into the Consomme to further enhance your meal.
